Every month, we’re teaming up with one of our restaurant or bar partners to bring you a Bottles cocktail of the month. September’s cocktail, Bee Humble, comes from Roderick Groetzinger of Sermet’s Southernterranean Cuisine and Bar. Get to know the pro behind the bar with our quick Q&A for Roderick:
Hometown: Hilton Head Island, SC
Years of Experience Behind the Bar: 8 years
Establishment that made you want to bartend: The Balcony in Byron Bay, Australia
Strangest drink order you’ve ever received: Hard to say which is the strangest drink order ever. Maybe when people order a basic mixed cocktail (like a rum and coke) but they want it tall and ask for less than a full shot. I’m sort of like ‘what’s the point?’ Also when someone orders a Bloody Mary at night during the week! Like on a Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.? Very odd.
What you drink at the end of a long shift: Either a cold beer or a glass of wine. Definitely love my wine and depending on time of year, weather, etc. I’ll drink white, red or rosé.
Desert Island Drink: Probably a case or two of Cascade Green (my favorite beer from Tasmania) and some Plantation Pineapple Rum.
Bee Humble is a deliciously refreshing cocktail that offers a fun twist on the classic Bee’s Knees. Stop by Sermet’s on James Island to try it, and visit Bottles Mt. Pleasant through September to pick up the ingredients and a recipe card to recreate Bee Humble at home. Cheers!
