Bottles Guide to Sweet Spring Wines

Spring wine-sweet wines-sweet wine-moscato-riesling-rose

As we retire our heavy coats in favor of light spring wear, it’s the perfect time to lighten our wine picks as well. When sipping sweeter wines, you can almost taste the promise of hot summer days ahead. When picking a sweet wine, the lower the alcohol content, the sweeter the wine. Typically, a wine under 9% abv is considered “sweet.”

Below, discover our favorite sweet wines to enjoy in the warmer weather.

Moscato: A classic sweet wine. Try the popular Seven Daughters moscato, an Italian white wine. Bonus points if your moscato is pink- we recommend Innocent Bystander, a delicious pink moscato with notes of citrus and grapefruit.

Rosé: This sweet pink wine has become enormously popular in recent years. Be trendy with a bottle of AIX Rosé, brimming with summery notes of watermelon, strawberries, and flowers. For a more sophisticated take, we recommend a 2015 bottle of Gerbino Rosato di Nerello Mascalese.

White Zinfandel: White zinfandel provides fruity, melon notes and just the right balance of dry and sweet. Give the California zinfandel Beringer a whirl, with its notes of fresh berry, or a bottle of Cityscape Raspberry White Zinfandel.

Riesling: The crisp, refreshing riesling is a must-try. Generally, rieslings from Germany and California tend to taste the sweetest, while rieslings from other regions can be more dry. Drink your dessert with a bottle of Pacific Rim Sweet Riesling or B. Lovely Riesling.
